Recently, our company president, Don Hirschaut, and our CFO, Michelle Hoffman, had the chance to experience some wonderful fall scuba diving in the Sea of Cortez. Don says, “the autumn months are an excellent time to scuba dive and snorkel in Los Cabos, with warm waters and excellent visibility. We had 84° water and visibility exceeding 100 ft. during our trip.” Here are some highlights:
Annual Bisbee’s East Cape Fishing Tournament August 4-7
Baja California Sur is known the world over for outstanding big game sport fishing for marlin, dorado (mahi mahi), tuna and more in the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez. Each year, anglers head to these scenic waters to compete for the chance to make a record catch and win a substantial cash prize. The East Cape Offshore Tournament is the first of three annual Bisbee’s tournaments in Baja California Sur (with the Los Cabos Offshore and Black and Blue tournaments occurring later this year in October). Diving with Mantas & Whale Sharks at Socorro Island
Located approximately 260 miles southwest of Cabo San Lucas, the rugged Revillagigedo Islands have sometimes been called the “Galapagos of Mexico” for the stunning variety of marine life found in these protected waters. This group of four volcanic islands include Socorro, San Benedicto, the islet of Roca Partida and Clarion Island. Recently, our company president Don Hirschaut had the opportunity to revisit Socorro Island and Roca Partida, as well as San Benedicto with the expert team of Nautilus Diving for a spectacular live-aboard diving trip on the state-of-the-art Belle Amie dive boat. Each year, migrating humpback and gray whales make an epic journey down the Pacific coastline of North America from their summer home in Alaskan waters to the warm lagoons of the Sea of Cortez in Baja California Sur, Mexico.
