Old Cabo & Modern Luxury: A Timeless Retreat on Chileno Bay
There are a few special places in the world that enchant you from the moment you first experience them. Blending timeless midcentury style with incredible views of Chileno Bay, Villa Cielito truly lives up to its name (little piece of heaven). Simultaneously luxurious and welcoming, this spectacular retreat is a vacation rental like no other in Los Cabos – the ideal spot for an outstanding family vacation or destination wedding.
Constructed in the early 1960’s by Bud Parr and family as part of the legendary Hotel Cabo San Lucas property (a getaway spot for stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age), Villa Cielito harkens back to this celebrated time in Cabo’s history. In the mid-20th century before Los Cabos bloomed into the bustling world-class vacation destination of today, the area was home to a handful of secluded resorts, accessible by boat or private plane. Overlooking the tranquil waters of serene Chileno Bay, the Hotel Cabo San Lucas and surrounding villas offered an incomparably peaceful ambiance to early tourists.
Originally designed by renowned architect Cliff May (known as the “father of the California ranch house”),Villa Cielito is an outstanding example of his unique style. The villa’s use of natural materials and a rambling floor plan radiating from a central living area with vaulted ceilings evoke the glamour of the midcentury modern style while harmonizing with the surrounding landscape. The villa gracefully opens to extensive beachfront terraces offering incredible views of the Sea of Cortez.
Warm hospitality and relaxed luxury vacation living are at the heart of the experience at Villa Cielito. The villa’s exceptional caretaking staff is available to attend to any needs that may arise, and can provide cooking services (additional costs apply) or setup a romantic beach dinner for you. Each bedroom offers stunning ocean views, and the villa is attractively outfitted with flagstone floors, marble and granite countertops.
While the interior living spaces and bedroom suites at Villa Cielito are impeccably decorated with comfortably elegant furnishings and artistic touches, the outdoor pool terrace is truly the showstopper. The infinity-edge pool offers a magnificent front-row spot to enjoy the brilliant ocean blues as snorkel boats and whales make their way along the shore.
Chileno Bay has the distinction of having been named a Blue Flag Beach for its unspoiled sands and waters. It also happens to be one of the finest snorkeling and skin diving spots in Los Cabos. The villa also offers a splendid waterfront fire pit on the rocks overlooking the views.
In addition to direct beach access, the villa offers a range of watersports equipment to enjoy during your stay, including kayaks. The owner’s fishing boat, the Yahoo, is available for private charter at a reduced rate to guests of Villa Cielito. The marvelous new Chileno Bay Resort & Residences lies at the end of the beach, offering a convenient spot for gourmet dining or housing additional guests for a destination wedding at the villa.

Thanks for positing. I just got back from a week at Villa La Valencia. I think my grandfather used to own a home on that property in the 80’s and 90’s and we’d go swim at the Hotel Cabo San Lucas pool. Any chance you or anyone on your team can confirm what used to be where Villa La Valenica is now? I’d be so thankful!

Hi Stephanie, thanks so much for your message. We don’t have a history on the previous buildings on the Villa la Valencia site but best of luck to you finding more info. It’s a beautiful part of the Los Cabos coastline.
